TL Dallas Support Stepping Stones NI

As a continuation of our centenary charity efforts, Gary Proctor from our Belfast office presented a cheque to local charity, Stepping Stones NI.

Stepping Stones provide meaningful training to people with a learning disability so that they had greater opportunities for employment. They operate five social enterprises which include three cafes, a bespoke wedding stationery business and a guild commended picture framing business in addition to arranging placements in industry.

Chief Officer, Paula Jennings thanked us for our continued support:

We are delighted to receive this donation, particularly in an uncertain funding climate for charities and look forward to continuing our long standing partnership with TL Dallas as our insurance broker.

Glasgow duo raise almost £500 in sponsored cycle

On Sunday 8th September, Bernard Dunn and Conor Russell from our Glasgow branch donned their cycling gear and joined around 7,000 budding cyclists in the iconic challenge to travel en masse from Glasgow to Edinburgh as part of Pedal for Scotland to raise money for centenary charity, Mind In Bradford. The pedalling duo raised an incredible £475 for the charity, which also goes towards the target of raising £100,000 for good causes throughout 2019.

Pedal for Scotland hosted the 45-mile cycle between Scotland’s two biggest cities; Glasgow and Edinburgh, both of which are home to TL Dallas branches.

Mind in Bradford is a local branch of Mind, the mental health charity. Its mission is to support anyone experiencing emotional or mental health problems across Bradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven.

Suzy Poole, PR & Communications Officer at Mind in Bradford commented:

We are delighted to have been chosen by TL Dallas. The money raised will be spent on our services across the district to support people experiencing mental or emotional distress. It will make a difference to many lives. Thank you!

The Centenary Issue of Covered is here

We are delighted to present the Centenary Edition of Covered, celebrating 100 years of insurance expertise.

As 2019 marks 100 years in business for TL Dallas, we wanted to do something a little special. We are pleased to announce that we are partnering with four charities that are close to the hearts of our staff: British Heart Foundation, Candlelighters, Mind in Bradford and Alzheimer Scotland. Additional support will also be provided for causes local to our branches.

We’re planning 12 months of fund-raising activities across the group to celebrate our centenary. We’ve set the bar high too, with a fundraising target of £100,000.

Included in this edition of Covered is an overview of the charities we’re supporting throughout the year, a TL Dallas timeline documenting our history and an insight into how we plan to continue the TL Dallas legacy over the next 100 years and beyond!

Introducing the Centenary Edition of Covered

Taking a Leap of Faith from 14,000ft for Charity

As 2019 marks our centenary year, you may be aware of the charitable initiative we launched a few years ago involving all our employees throughout the UK to raise funds for charities close to our hearts. The aim is to raise a total of over £100,000 by the end of 2019.

There have been many initiatives to support this across the Group including, Dress Down Days, Great TL Dallas Bake Off, a Gospel Concert fundraiser, Charity Calendars to name but a few. And now, without doubt, the bravest fundraising plan will see six TL Dallas employees jumping out of a plane from 14,000 feet on 12th July with the hope of raising £5,000 towards the target!

TL Dallas have kindly covered the cost of the skydive so every penny donated will go to our chosen charities.

Launching our Centenary charity incentive

We are excited to be embarking on our centenary year in 2019, marking 100 years since Thomas Lessels Dallas OBE, an enterprising Scotsman, established the TL Dallas business in Bradford.

To celebrate this landmark occasion, we are pleased to announce that we are partnering with four charities that are close to staffs’ hearts: British Heart Foundation, Candlelighters, Mind In Bradford and Alzheimer Scotland. Additional support will also be provided for local causes to our branches including Sedbergh Youth & Community Centre in Bradford.

The partners came together to mark the launch at Valley Parade, home of Bradford City. The stadium was chosen to kick-off the campaign given our longstanding sponsorship of the football club.

The charity initiative, which is backed by our employees across the UK, will see the team take on a series of challenges including skydiving, abseiling and concerts in order to reach the target. Additional centenary celebration milestones will also be held throughout the year.

Polly Staveley, Managing Director at TL Dallas, said: “This year marks an important anniversary for TL Dallas. Being able to celebrate 100 years since the business first opened its doors in 1919 is such an achievement.

“We are especially proud that myself and my brother, Mackenzie, as fourth generation members of the Dallas family, are now leading the business to its next phase. The success that has been seen over the last 100 years has laid the foundations for the business to continue growing and developing.

It’s fantastic that we can celebrate 100 years by helping others, which is why we are so passionate about our charity campaign. The initiative has seen TL Dallas staff voting for charities that they have personally been touched by so we’re really proud to be supporting these fantastic organisations.

Helen Davey, chief executive of Mind in Bradford, said: “We are delighted to have been chosen by TL Dallas which has such a long history in Bradford. The money raised will be spent on our services across the district to support people experiencing mental or emotional distress. It will make a difference to many lives. Thank you!”

Stephanie Jones, fundraising manager at British Heart Foundation, said: “It’s fantastic to be chosen as one of the beneficiary charities of TL Dallas as it celebrates its centenary.

“The money donated through this fabulous initiative will help towards research for heart and circulatory diseases and help the 670,000 people living with these conditions in Yorkshire.”

Arnold Butterfield, of Sedbergh Youth & Community Centre, said: “We are very grateful for TL Dallas’s ongoing support.

“We are a small Bradford-based charity serving the local community with a range of services and donations and support from brilliant businesses like TL Dallas help enormously.”
